Description:
A double-sided poster was created as part of a promotion for paper. The concept is that, as a medium for thought and a repository for knowledge, paper has achieved an immortal place in human history.
With quotations collected from literary, religious, and scientific sources, and images from mythology, biology, and chemistry, we depict the long human quest for answers to the great questions about life itself. It is a drama that has played out on the surface of paper, from tabula rasa to scientific proof and sacred text. Paper as nearly always journeyed alongside us in our creation and accumulation of knowledge that survives our own short lives.
The treatment of the typography (different colors, sizes, and states of legibility) imparts a range of tone and texture to the overall composition. This poster is included in Page Layout, Inspiration, Innovation, Information, published by Duncan Baird Publishers in 2000 and in 2D: Visual Basics for Designers, published by Thomson Delmar Learning in 2007.
