Have you ever stopped to think  how much packaging waste is generated in a year? According to the EPA, in 2010 Americans produced 250 million tons of waste. A full 30 percent of that—about 76 million tons—comes from packaging, the biggest culprit. Impressive and alarming, don’t you think?

Under the premise of sustainable design, American designer Aaron Mickelson came up with five possible solutions to pollution generated from packaging of different products manufactured by household names like Nivea, Tide, Glad, OXO and Twinings, among others.

What makes this packaging different from others? Mickelson wanted to take the initiative to its furthest extent, eliminating packaging waste entirely. You can find out more about this project here.
