As you have probably noticed, we are fascinated by the world of design and literature. Previously, Emma Brennan showed us the beautiful covers of Haruki Murakami. In 2012, at the passing of Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska, we honored her with a post and an illustration created for us by Gabriela Molina. Finally, last year we shared a list of the most famous book of every state in the USA.

Continuing with our passion for design and literature, today’s attention is turned towards Vintage Classics’ Italo Calvino—one of my favorite writers.

Designed by award-winning designer and creative director Michael Salu, these exquisite covers capture, using typographic forms as its primary visual language, the essence of each story.

Enjoy our typographic lesson for today.
