French Touch is a chair created by designer Juliette Mutzke-Felippelli. She found her inspiration on the French house music from the 90s. Especially, she had a strong spark after listening to the French duo Daft Punk’s second album “Discovery.” She is motivated by the way how the artists filtered and layered their disco samples at that time.

“I interpreted the artists’ layering and filtering method literally, by using the dichroic film, which acts as a beautiful color filter, and applying it to acrylic. Our foremost design consideration was to show off the dichroic effect, so we created flat surfaces at every angle.” “The chair is as vibrant and mesmerizing as the combination of uplifting disco samples and heavy filters used in tracks during the heyday of the French house musical genre.” Mutzke-Felippelli said.

To build French Touch, the dichroic film is applied to CNC-cut acrylic and connected by steel bolts. This construction allows a luminous color spectrum to reveal itself at every angle.
