Lex Drewinski was born on September 11, 1951 in Szczecin, Poland. From 1976 to 1981, he studied at the Faculty of Painting, Graphics, and Sculpture at the National Academy of Visual Arts in Pozna? where he graduated with honors from Waldemar ?wierzy‘s poster design class. After graduation, he started working as a poster designer with Pol-Film in Warsaw and two years later, in addition to design, he became a screenwriter in the Animated Film Studio in Pozna? where he worked for three years. In 1985 he moved to West Berlin where he studied to become a computer graphic designer at the CIMDATA institue. In 1992, Drewinski won an open call for the position of director at the Faculty of Design of the Fachhochsule Postdam in Postdam.

Since 2002, Drewinski has worked as a columnist for the quarterly magazine 2+3d and has constantly produced his iconic social posters while also creating theatre posters every once in a while. His style is minimalistic, it’s recognized by the powerful social and political messages he is able to transmit with the lowest amount of elements and colors. His work has been shown in multiple exhibitions throughout the world and to this day, he continues to surprise and impact us all.
