Similar to many other designers, my first introduction to the world of hand lettering was with Jessica Hische. I’m particularly fond of her covers for the Barnes and Noble Classics (which leads into a rabbit hole of my love for books and collected editions in general). What impresses me about hand lettering is the amount of skill and craft that goes into the work. Paired with endless creativity, the results are absolutely stunning. Which brings me to Emilee Rudd, a designer based out of Sacramento, CA.

Emilee’s craft is absolutely astounding. Her craft is apparent in the most meticulous detail of each project. The use of color, elegance and precision are a huge part of her process. It is incredible to see her skills applied to a wide variety of work ranging from signage, branding and even coffee cups. Here’s a couple of my favorite pieces:

Be sure to check out her portfolio. Every single piece is absolutely stunning.
