A few weeks ago, a picture surfaced on Reddit of someone’s mom and their painting of an egret. As the post gathered over 75,000 upvotes, a user commented asking people to post pictures of them holding their paintings of the original picture. Someone did. More people came along and painted the second picture, starting a chain.

It led to crazy titles like “We painted the guy that painted the other guy who hadn’t painted in 2 years who painted the other guy who painted the girl that painted the guy who painted the girl that painted the guy that painted some guy’s mother who painted a swan whilst making them all an NPC in the process”.

Here is a series of pictures to show one of the chains of drawing. It all happened very fast– and this is a great example of people coming together over the internet to create something amazing. Soon enough, another person made an interactive family tree, showing all the paintings that have been drawn.
