The Verde-Amarela (The Green and Yellow) has made the headlines this week and it has nothing to do with their Joga Bonito or the discovery of another new talent. This week while inaugurating their Brazilian football presidency of Rogério Caboclo, they took the moment to reveal the new football crest of their national team. The five-time world cup champions have changed their crest since nearly more than a decade of remaining intact.

The new identity of the Brazilian National Football team was designed by Brazilian firm Ana Couto agency. The goal was to improve the perception of the brand. Throughout the research and strategy, the Brazilian design firm decided to create an evolution of the badge by taking inspiration of a local artist. The new crest was inspired by the work of Brazil artist Athos Bulcão, who is known for creating tile pattern. The main change of the crest involved playing around with the cross stripes of the crest. Fragments of the stripe shapes are reflected in the new shield through positive negative space.

The updated logo symbolizes party energy and celebration, things that the Brazilian national team is known for transmitting inside the field. Their style of playing know as Joga bonito reflect these three points. This new crest is set to be released and fully adopted by 2020.
