Zac Matias the 21 year old director, known as Lonewolf, has branched out from his Indiana roots and has worked with a solid roster of Chicago and Midwest artists including Plu2o Nash, Qari, Rarri, Warhol.SS, Lucki, and Yung Pinch just to name a few. Zac explains how he is forever inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video yet his own style is unlike any main videographers out today. He blends out of the box effects with some beautiful cinematic shots.

His career in video began with him creating self-initiated short films and shooting skateboard videos with friends when he found interest in editing. He reached out to a musician from Chicago by the name of Freako and shot his very first music video which introduced him to the Chicago music scene. From then on, he progressed to working with some very successful artists.

Zac works with a mix of collage, stop motion animation and blends them in with his beautiful cinematic shots, creating an overall grunge style of music videos like nothing I have seen out there today. Each music video he treats like an art piece adding his own unique twist which varies on the style of the musician or song. He uses fine art mediums such as painting and sketching over frames in the video to bring the footage to life with fast moving animations and transitions.

Zac has a lot more projects in progress and is growing bigger every day working with some new and upcoming artist. His end goal is for one day be a real director and to keep up the music videos. Zac is hoping to work with big artists such as Tame Impala, Pharrell, and Thundercat in the future. Keep an eye out for Lonewolf’s new music video releases.
