Last week was one of those that weeks we wish we would have never gone through. We received the news of a group of nine people losing their lives in a tragic helicopter crash. From the start, we want to send the condolence to the family and closed ones of all the nine victims. What made this news even more hurtful was the loss of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi Bryant. The news of Kobe’s death not only impacted the sports community but transcended throughout the world. Not only was he a champion inside the court but also outside of it. Today, to honor Kobe Bryant I will share with you some artistic visuals that revolve around this iconic figure. From identities, animations, to illustrations that pay homage to him.

Some called him The Black Mamba, I called him Mr. No Flinch in relation to the incident in the 2010 NBA game between Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers when Matt Barnes feint to throw a ball at his face and Kobe stood stone-cold without flinching. Kobe competitiveness made him the legend he is today and it was a huge inspiration watching him play no matter what sport you were into.

When I said he was a champion in and outside the court I mean it. Not only did he have 5 rings which were all won with the Lakers but he also won an Oscars Academic Award for the best-animated film in 2018.

His influence transcended borders. It is impossible to not know Kobes visual identity. Growing up, Kobe had one of the most iconic logos stamped on sneakers and merchandise. His humbleness and simplicity are two aspects that can be reflected in his identity for his signature Nike/Kobe mark and Mamba brand. Lastly, I would like to share some creative illustrations that pay tribute to Kobe Bryant. One that stood out and I actually like how it looked was his signature move being placed inside the NBA logo. Of course, I mean this with no disrespect to the other legend Jerry West.
