Throughout the past years alfalfa studio has had the fortune to work with clients in different industries. We have gone from making powerful sports brand identities to creating marketing material for real estate development companies. While working in the development industry we gained much real estate knowledge working with one of our clients, L&L Holding. Together we have produced some creative and outstanding work. While working in this creative field we noticed the importance of having a development property certified by The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Well, this important certification badge will now look slightly different being that they updated their logo.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainability in building design, construction, and operation. USGBC is a distinguishable organization that promotes Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) through a green building rating system. We noticed that being certified by this organization is a big deal. USGBC mission offers environmental and economic opportunities that have the potential to generate 2.5 million jobs. Their mission is to build better buildings that give the community a brighter and healthier space to live in. USGBC currently holds up to tens of thousands of members along with many chapters around the world.

The recent press release of their new identity can be looked at as an evolution rather than a drastic change. Aside from making the main logo black, the font in USGBC slightly changed in weight. The main logo will be used on formal materials such as letterheads and certificates. The main evolution of their emblem is seen in their less formal material; USGBC created an eight-color palette and pulled out the oak leaf. The leaf will be used in colorful backgrounds throughout social media and merchandise. The final adaption of the logo was made in the creation of the USGBC wordmark which is limited to be used by employees for internal resources and business cards.
