Last Friday, Google Doodle celebrated Hip Hop’s 44th Anniversary with one of its best interactive doodles to date. Introduced by a lush custom graphic by graffiti artist Cey Adams, you are guided through the origins of hip hop with visual artist and rapper Fab Five Freddy. From it’s inception in New York Bronx to the sociological impact of hip hop, this animation captures the nostalgic essence of the world’s most popular music genre.
The heart of this Doodle is the interactivity. You get to be the MC you were always destined to be, choose your own records and scratch those turntables as if you were back in 1973. Below are some of the Doodle team’s early explorations. Although the historical explanation of Hip Hop Google Doodle presents were disputed, its animation and interactive elements were phenomenal. Who wouldn’t want to become a MC and create your very own beats?0
