With almost 100 collaborative posters under our belt, we are constantly trying to shake things up at Alfalfa Studio for Amphibian Stage Productions (ASP) in Forth Worth, Texas. ASP has always been focused on challenging their audience and bringing fresh ideas to Fort Worth. For the 18th season's creative campaign, we were energized by intensely saturated colors, graphic visuals, and the human touch. The goal of this campaign was to evoke an emotional response from the audience.
Today, the world is completely saturated with digital aesthetics. What happens when we go back to our basic human instincts of creating with our hands? Alfalfa saw this year as an opportunity to get messy and use an analog process. After multiple rounds of research and discussion, we narrowed down the essence of each play with one strong visual. Then we used acrylic paint to create the expressive hand lettering and gritty background texture. Finally, we pulled the entire piece together with bold and playful colors.
The season 18's creative campaign successfully captured the spirit of this season's plays. With an unexpected visual approach, this season's cohesive series of posters drew in a wide audience. The stimulating color palette, memorable imagery, and tactile texture attracted their loyal supporters and a new generation of theater lovers.
