Alfalfa studio collaborated with Nickelodeon Preschool Television to create an animation campaign celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
We proposed a set of animated shorts introducing preschoolers to 4 Hispanic men and women who reached the top of their fields: musician Tito Puente, astronaut Ellen Ochoa, inventor Narcís Monturiol and Olympic swimmer Dara Torres. Their dynamic professions and achievements make them highly engaging role models in the eyes of children.
Alfalfa studio conducted the research, designed the characters, created original collage illustrations, produced dozens of hand-painted backgrounds, directed the stories and animation, and supervised all production and post-production aspects, including sound effects, music, and voiceover.
We commissioned Emmy and Grammy winning composer Fernando Rivas to write original music for each short. In addition, our talented group of collaborators included writers, producers, sound designers, animators, voiceover artists and, of course, a terrific client.
The shorts aired on NickJr from September 15 to October 15, 2009. The campaign won the prestigious Imagen Award for Best On-Air Advertising. The Imagen Awards recognizes positive portrayals of Latinos in all forms of media.
