When we talk about the most influential and greatest artists of all time, it’s difficult no to put Picasso under that category. Picasso without a doubt created a pathway to modern art with his unique painting style. The Spanish-born artist was the leader of the Modern Art movement and one of the co-founders of the Cubist movement. Throughout his artistic career, he created a style never seen before through paintings, drawings, sculptures, Ceramic, and Costumes. The influence he has on today’s art is fascinating, especially when an artist like Omar Aqil pays tribute to him.
Pakistani-based artist Omar Aqil is known for his 3D digital style that he usually applies to typography, illustration, and graphic design. For this project, MIMIC, he used his 3D skills to create some beautiful masterpieces based on Pablo Picasso’s work. MIMIC is a series of new visual experiment using famous artwork from the past. Aqil randomly chose 6 paintings of Picasso, then recreated into a 3D geometric form. Watching Aqil’s interpretation of Picasso’s work is like literally witnessing wonderful paintings come to life. The use of neutral and cool colors gave Aqil artwork a great touch. Although some art critics would argue that modernist art is not as captivating as artwork prior to Modernism, this new interpretation of Picasso’s work is so cool. Take a look below to some of Aqil’s interpretation of Picasso’s work.
