This year has been filled with emotions. Some of us have lived through different events that have shaped our lives forever. For many people, 2017 has been a year we want to forget. I don’t recall any other year filled with as many natural disasters as this past one. From the recent wildfire in California to the hurricane in Puerto Rico and the earthquake in Mexico, we have seen pain and grieve of our people.

As a tradition, every year Time Magazine releases the top 10 images of the year. Being that the events mentioned and much more defined 2017, the images you’ll about to see are a reflection of it. The top 10 photos of 2017 focus more on the humanitarian side from events that not only deal with natural disasters but also global warming, war, and mass shootings.

For some Americans, 2017 started with high tensions after Donald Trump took office and those feelings endured throughout the year. Political issues have caused disturbance all over the country. There has also been high war tensions between our country and North Korea. Puerto Rico was struck with a category 1 hurricane that till this day some parts of the island don’t have electricity. The photos Time Magazine selected were carefully curated to evoke a deep feeling of compassion and awareness, in retrospect of 2017.
