To end an exciting week, we would like to show you a snippet of what it is like to watch the World Cup in a small, humble Mexican restaurant located in Manhattan’s Financial District.

This short video documents a little bit of the expatriate experience of Mexicans living in New York City. In a surprising and sweet way, soccer brings us together.

What about your own experience? How did you feel when Mexico defeated France this week? Do you care? Does this kind of event bring out your own sense of patriotism and national identity as well?

Enjoy watching the reaction to this historic World Cup game. If you’re old enough, you will recognize the soundtrack….”México, México, verde, blanco y rojo pinta mi corazón…

Finally, as a Mexican, I recommend eating at ‘El Tajin’ (located on Greenwich Street at Rector Street.). Everyone is friendly, the place is family-owned, and the food is tasty and authentic. It’s become my little piece of Mexico in New York City.

All captured by my iPhone.
