Right around the corner from the studio’s home base, crochet creatures have been spotted.

Earlier this week, the Alfalfa crew walked by crocheted men, who seemed like the next superheroes with their colorful body suits. A couple of blocks over, we stumbled upon a classic VW beetle skinned in pink and purple crochet patterns.

Bewildered, enchanted, and amused, we followed the clues and finally arrived at the Christopher Henry Gallery to discover the answers to our questions and a world of everything crocheted – from bathroom sinks to ironing tables, bicycles to beds, with messages woven into some of the woolen wall pieces.

Polish artist Olek is showcasing her work titled ‘Knitting is for Pus****’, that spreads into a treasure hunt of sorts with random brightly knitted objects and weaves around trees in the Nolita and Lower East Side areas. Find one and you can’t help but follow.

The show is open until October 17th, so be sure to check it out if you’re in the area.
