At first glance, this sheet of stamps looks like so many we’ve seen, maybe just better designed (leave that to the Dutch!). On closer inspection—and a bit of research—these spearhead a whole new dimension in postage stamp design: Augmented Reality features. We’ve been hearing about and experiencing Augmented Reality (technology-enhanced perception of reality) in a variety of environments, but in a postage stamp?
The Netherlands has always been known for its out-of-the-ordinary, beautiful stamp designs. Now the TNT Post (now Post NL) is also among the first government agencies to embrace this new technology for public use. It makes sense, since there’s just so much you can pack into such a small surface, don’t you think?
