Google always does so much behind the scenes (to the extent where it is often frowned upon), and every so often it is nice to be reminded of the creative and fun side of it. Google maintains its Doodle page quite diligently, and this year like never before we are exposed to the preponderance and unique location-based creativity every Google branch, be it in the US or Malaysia, has demonstrated throughout the year. Did they do a great job or what? Google has, luckily, given freedom to its non-American counterparts in creating designs that are associated with the country of its creators and the occasion they chose to commemorate.

From a design viewpoint, some are obviously better than others. However, it is nonetheless nice to skim through all of these interesting compositions and see the rather ubiquitous logo of Google take a tad more sophisticated form. The creators of each Doodle achieve this through either shapes that resemble each letter in the original logo, or even by pushing the word abstraction to the very edge of our ability to really recognize the logo (or symbol) that has become synonymous with the word internet.

Check out our personal favorites below, and take a look at all of them here.
