All over the world there are millions of children with poor vision who do not have access to an optician. This issue is harmful to their education as well as social participation in the classroom; therefore, a solution is in order.  Although influencing a worldwide matter such as this seems like a daunting task, change may be closer than you think.

Child ViSion has launched a line of glasses which are to be distributed to schools of 12-18 year olds. The glasses are based off of the idea of self-refraction. They feature fluid lenses, which allow for easy self-adjustment as vision evolves.

The glasses feature a completely round front lens and hard-coated black membrane, forming a cavity for clear silicone oil. The oil is driven in and out of the lens, changing its curvature and, as a result, strength. The arms are straight and springy, built to fit all facial types. Overall, the design lends itself to mass-production, as the production is relatively cheap and simple.
