Japanese Artist, Tomoko Shioyasu was born in Osaka in 1981, where she specialized in Sculpture at Kyoto University. The colossal paper tapestries shown above have been designed by hand using utility knives and a soldering iron. Her work evokes some of nature’s most complex creations such as the organic patterns of cells, the flow of water, and the forces of wind. She is represented by the SCAI The Bathhouse, a famous gallery which introduces japanese artists to the international public and supports the young japenese art scene. Huge synthetic sheets contrast with the meticulously precise work of Tomoko. The enormous format immerses the public in a new, exciting environment similar to that of a Vortex.
