The Butterfly Effect is a project from Designer and Illustrator Andrea Preis from Berlin. He hand-drew and cut out intricate butterfly forms, and provided different meaningful messages on them. About 1,000 butterflies were distributed across Berlin to bring good messages and inspiration to people.

This project is relevant to me because it reminds me of my own present self-growth process; butterflies represent change. As many of you surely know, Butterflies undergo many cycles of metamorphosis; starting from an egg, then becoming a caterpillar, then a pupa where they form a chrysalis that protects them. The pupa stage can last a few weeks, and when this stage is done the adult stage begins, which is when these beautiful creatures become butterflies.

I feel as though I am going through a transition similar to that of a butterfly. I just moved from open-air Michigan to the bustling New York City, having just started my internship here at Alfalfa Studio. I have experienced much within these last few weeks, much like a butterfly does. The Butterfly Effect is not only visually stunning but also it can touch many; as we all know people go through different emotions a day that sometimes just seeing a simple message can really brighten someone’s world.
