I’m a big fan of collage. In fact, this poetic art production technique has been a big influence in my own work, particularly animation. It can be seen in a campaign for Nickelodeon and recently, in a short video directed for The Ford Foundation.

Among my favorite collage artists are Hannah Höch and John Heartfield, who literally cut the images with their own hands. Nowadays, in the age of computer and photoshop, collage is having a revival.

In previous posts, we have shared the work of young collage artists such as Ernesto Artillo, Julien Pacaud and Mat Maitland among others. Today’s featured artist is Julia Geiser. In her work, the young Swiss creator blends contemporary and vintage images from images mainly found online.

A masterful mixture of textures, images, colors and shapes gives her work an air of darkness, surrealism and mystery. Enjoy our ten selections.
