Sissel Hovden is a Norwegian artist working in Oslo. With a strong background in graphic design and lettering, when creating her fine art pieces she lets intuition and spontaneity guide her choices.
“Through music and meditation, I let the images come to me.” The artist states, “My work is a representation of my inner landscapes. The language of my art is strongly influenced by the present moment.“
She received her education at the renown Art Center College of Design in California. While enjoying a successful career in graphic design, Sissel decided to isolate herself in her studio to do art only for herself; the kind of art that is more about self-connection, inner reflection and self discovery. The work resulted in an exhibition appropriately called Truth Be Told shown in 2012 at the Dalype Gallery in her native Norway.
Ever since her fine art work has taken center stage culminating in Spatial Articulation at the Agora Gallery now on view through July 2, 2015.
Agora’s press release sums up Sissel’s work:
With a background in graphic design and a strong eye for composition, the artist gives her images a balance that places all of her experimentation in a peaceful, harmonious setting. No matter how freely drawn their lines are, or how many drips of paint or pieces of language cover their surfaces, her works always have a clarity that ensures the message comes directly across.
Check out the work and come support this young artist who no doubt we’ll be seeing much more in the future.
