Born in Northern Ireland, Kevin Francis Gray is an artist whose work explores the “complex relationship between abstraction and figuration.” A mix between reality and fantasy, the work is haunting and seductive.
His material of choice is primarily bronze and marble. His highly detailed process and refined craftsmanship brings to mind sculptures from Neoclassical or Baroque styles and painting from surrealists such as Rene Magritte and Leonora Carrington.
Kevin Francis Gray works by entirely by hand chiseling away just like the masters previous centuries. But, unlike Neoclassical or Baroque sculptures, his subjects are depictions of individuals struggling with addiction or other difficult situations.
His work has been exhibited in most continents in solo and group shows. He holds a MA in Fine Art from Goldsmith College in London.
