Traveling by car is one of the best ways to get to know new cities. Before leaving your country, you need to do some homework to get yourself prepared. Make a list of addresses you want to visit, get a trustable gps and go.

While one is driving, the others should look out the window to enjoy and absorb the beautiful scenes of the city. I’m more of the passenger kind. Every country or place have their own charm. On the way to our planned site, everything we see is unplanned, we are ready to discover! Everything is new and fresh. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the surprises that the city will give you.

London-based illustrator and animator, James Gilleard loves traveling around in a car as well—just like everybody else. His most recent trip was to Japan where he created a set of digital sketches of his travels around the Land of the Rising Sun. Gilleard named his project Japan By Car. He used his own way to treasure the appealing scenery that he saw. The compositions and style is very nice and unique. This set of works is designed with a depth of blending realistic lighting with simple geometric shapes. It looks minimal from a distance, yet with a lot of details when you look closer.

Gilleard has uploaded some of his works for Japan this month and I am still waiting for more! Click here to visit his website and here for Instagram.
