Don’t you sometimes wish you had a filtered folder with just great design inspiration? At times while working on a project we tend to spend hours on a computer looking for inspirations and honestly, not even half the images we find are great. In an era where everyone can put on a title as a graphic designer and make a repetitive trendy design, we need inspiration that is more concise and Taschen has always helped out on that.
Just last year, 2017, Taschen introduced the design community with the book, The History of Graphic Design Vol.1. It covered some of the most important designs from the period of 1890-1959. This past week Taschen announced that volume 2 will be releasing soon and this new book will cover the years of 1960 till today. Written by Jens Müller and edited by Julius Wiedemann the Vol. 2 publication will feature over 3,500 seminal pieces, 78 landmark projects, and a year by year spread covering various influential time periods.
Taschen has always been known for publishing great design books, not to mention the other genres they cover. This editorial piece is no exception. Here you’ll find symbolic logos, magazine covers, ads, and posters that have shaped the world design community. The second edition of The history of Graphic Design covers important events of each decade which includes politics, wars, tech innovation, and the establishment of important companies. The amount of groundbreaking design is vast and you’ll discover, what made the Paula Scher, Massimo Vignelli, Stephan Sagmeister the design icons they are today. As you can see this design book is very broad and it does not only cover design from Europe and America but also countries in the south and central America as well as other countries in the world. I really recommend to pre-order and have this on your shelf for inspiration. It is set to release in November 2018.
