As you can tell from my previous blog post, I love sports branding. I tend to mostly write about football but this time I’m going to give you a throwback NBA post. As a sports fan, I love discovering vintage logos and seeing how sports aesthetics have evolved throughout the years.
Through my research, I discovered how NBA teams tend to keep up with the latest trends in terms of aesthetics. Some franchises have succeeded while others have failed to transmit a pleasant identity to their fans. For example, Chicago Bulls has had an iconic timeless logo, while teams like Atlanta Hawks have seen eleven changes in their identity throughout the years. There are also cases where an old logo becomes classic like the 1996 Toronto raptors. To generate nostalgic feelings to fans, some NBA teams are even bringing back vintage logos to their jerseys for the sake of sales.
