Born in a family of artists, she grew up keenly observing numerous different art styles and artists. Her visual mind-bank kept filling up with several color palettes and textures as she grew up. Anu’s paintings are as engaging as watching sea waves crash on the rocks by the bay while the sun sets. One can’t just pass by an artwork of hers, without stopping, and spending some time looking at it. Anu Kulkarni is an Abstract artist based out of Pune, India.
Anu is one of the most prominent young generation artists in India. She is a recognized artist by The Art Society of India and the Ministry of Culture, India. She received several awards: In 1995 she was awarded by the V. V. Oak Foundation State Exhibition, Pune. In 1999 she was presented with the Atur Foundation Exhibition award and has received an award from the Art Society of India as well. In 1997, Anu received her Government Diploma in Drawing and Painting (Pune). In 1998 she graduated with her Diploma in Art Education. In 2000 she received her Masters degree in Painting. Anu Primarily works with oil paints, and abstract landscapes or abstract seascapes are her forte.
Anu has participated in over 30 group shows and several personal exhibitions in India and abroad. Her clients, range from private art collectors to corporate companies and luxury hotels. She has held numerous exhibitions at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai which is considered to be a very esteemed gallery for any artist to showcase his/her work at.
Anu’s canvas is filled with life. Her strokes give you a visceral feeling, but are yet so subtle at the same time. Her shades change like the shades of leaves in autumn. The whole composition flows steadily like the water coming from a spring. These are the artworks that play with your heart more than appeasing your brain. Anu truly is a Poetess of Strokes.
Anu has her own studio in Pune, and stays in the same city with her husband and a kid.
