When you think about movie soundtracks you probably think about legendary composers like John Williams or Ennio Morricone in front of a huge orchestra. However, times have changed, and scoring a movie or a tv show is a more versatile field now.

Young composers are experimenting with new ways of mixing and composing soundtracks with the help of new technology. Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson is a great example of this new way of approaching scoring. Being only 36 years old he has already won a Grammy and an Academy Award for his score for Black Panther. His latest project is Disney’s The Mandalorian, a Star Wars spin-off TV show.

The Mandalorian has taken Star Wars to a new age and a new audience and Ludwig Göransson has done a great job creating a score that feels fresh but still captures the essence of the 1977s Star Wars. Alone in his studio, Ludwig created interesting sounds that he later turned into a full suite that feels as epic as the original Star Wars soundtrack by legend John Williams.

Take a look at the beautiful process behind Ludwig’s score for The Mandalorian in the following behind the music videos.
