From playing in Portugal’s top tier league, Liga Nos to playing in 1ª Divisão Distrital de Lisboa, the equivalent to the Sixth Division, Belenense has had quite an impact in Portugal. Belenenses was founded in 1919 in Belém, a riverside district of Lisbon. Known as O Belem, this club made history in 1946 by becoming the first club to break the domination of the big three and winning a league title. During the 40s Belenenses had a successful year and was highly regarded to the point where they were the invited guest to inaugurate the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid in 1947.

For more than a decade, the badge of Belenenses has practically remained the same for about a century. There have been a few changes to the crest throughout the years that involve color tone, initials, and the frame surrounding the crest. The main symbol of the crest is the “Cruz da Ordem de Cristo, “Order of Christ Cross which has been an icon closely linked to the Portuguese nation. Centered in the middle of the shield is accompanied by the acronym warping around. In 2018, a division between shareholders has led the club to be divided into two separate entities. CF Belenenses was able to stay with the logo and name however they had to give up the right to play in the first division which is now occupied with the other shareholder club SAD Belenenses.
