A name to honor among the Lanus organization is Carlos H. Pointis, an architect that added his grain of sand to this institution. The streets of Villa General Paz gave birth to the club Lanus by groups of neighbors, mostly conformed of enthusiastic youngsters in the year 1915. Although Lanus is not considered to be among the top 5 of Argentina, they have achieved some of the same success. Not only have they won locally but have also won international cups such as the Copa Sudamericana.

Lanus is known as El Granate, a nickname that serves as the main link to the architect Carlos H. Pointis. Also considered one of the founding members of the club, Pointis was the one who defined that the club would be identified by the garnet colors. It is said that in 1928 he selected the unique garnet jersey to distinguish them from other clubs. Aside from choosing the club’s color, Pointis designed the emblem with a distinct monogram that characterizes the club until the day of the date. The initials C, A Y L, intertwine inside the cookie shape circle.
