The 408-page book is organized chronologically into six chapters that cover the life and career of the acclaimed designer from 1924 through 2002. Each chapter presents a period in his career including influences and collaborations. Rational Simplicity beautifully presents his groundbreaking work with illustrations and photography, yet it goes beyond that by giving us additional information that places the work in context. For instance, each chapter is supported by side bars on various designers, artists, architects, art movements, and typefaces that have had a direct and major influence on the Harak’s life and career. Rudolph de Harak is an AIGA Medalist among many other recognition.

“Rudy de Harak is a solid link between American and Swiss modernism. He was an exemplar of minimalist form with a conceptual content. A book on his life and work is sorely needed and long overdue.” —Steven Heller

Is there a better feeling than holding a book that is not only beautiful to look at but also masterfully produced? Rational Simplicity will please even those designers with the most discerning eye; Hardcover with horizontal half-binding, printed in six colors and in two paper stocks. What’s even better? It was designed by one of the most respected designers working today. Richard Poulin is the cofounder, design director, and principal of Poulin + Morris Inc – an internationally recognized, multidisciplinary design consultancy located in New York City.
