A—Z, the experimental gallery in Berlin that champions all forms of graphic design has done it again. For its latest exhibition, Connecting from A—Z, the gallery invited twenty-eight designers to create one diverse alphabet. It was one simple way of being connected despite the pandemic. The idea was inspired by the concept of a chain reaction. First, each designer received a letter that was already designed by a colleague. Then, he or she designed the following one in the alphabet. The letter received could be used as an inspiration or connecting point of dialogue for the next design. To keep the project dynamic and playful the designers were given a tight deadline. Timeframe? 24 hours!

The result? A fresh and vibrant alphabet flaunting many cool, bizarre, and funky letterforms. The group of designers include, Franzi Bauer, Alex Branczyk, Barbara Dechant, Imad Gebrayel, Jason Grant (Inkahoots), Ilka Helmig & Johannes Bergerhausen, Frank Höhne, Na Kim, Christopher Knowles, Jungmyung Lee, Urs Lehni, Anja Lutz, Tine Melzer, Peter Nencini, Johanna Olm, So Jin Park, Francesco Pini, Rimini Berlin, Lucienne Roberts, Georg Rutishauser, Emily Smith, Patrick Thomas, Andrea Tinnes, Juliana Toro, Niklaus Troxler, Ferdinand Ulrich, Mark van Wageningen (Novo Typo).
