Style, performance, and sustainability are three words that come to mind when looking at the FC Internazionale Milano 2021 kits created by Nike. The design team used the club’s iconic blue and black team colors to form a snakeskin inspired pattern across the jersey. It looks sleek and contemporary as well as paying homage to the grass snake also known as the Biscione, a historical symbol for the city of Milan. The snakeskin design featured the newly redesigned Inter Milan crest which was launched earlier this year.

Performance is essential for any sports and Nike has always been known for its innovation. The new kit is not the exception. Nike captured performance data from over 300 soccer players. The design team paid close attention at the athlete’s specific movements in relation to the sport in order to identify how they sweat as well as how the fabric would enhance their performance. This process helped understand both, how the fabric needs to stretch over their muscles and where the more breathable material should be used.

Last, as a forward-thinking company, Nike is concerned about the impact their products have in the environment. The jerseys are made from at least 95% recycled plastic bottles. It means that Nike will divert one billion plastic bottles from landfills and waterways a year — after all, the Inter Milan is one of the most popular teams in the planet. The collected bottles are cleaned, melted down into pellets to be turned into high-quality fabrics.

Kudos Nike!
